What we have to eat
Especially during this lockdown period, healthy eating habit in your daily routine is very important to keep your immune system strong to fight with any kind of Virus not just COVID-19.
In your daily routine, 30% – 40% of your food should be in live form. That means raw vegetables, fruits, nuts and sprouts. 20% – 30% should be boiled and remaining 10% to 15% can be cooked food or fried food.
Most of the doctors and nurses may either be busy in helping COVID-19 affected patients or existing critical patients who need immediate medical assistance. Hence, you may not get immediate medical attention.
In Yogic science TAMAS means – Inertia, RAJAS means – Activity, but no balance and SATVA means – Absolutely balanced kind of energy.
I would like to share a few very simple and yet powerful healthy SATVA (Satvik) eating habits. This will keep you entire day very active and pleasant.
Keep 1 litre of water in a copper or silver container overnight, if possible put 2-4 Tulasi/Basil leaves into it.
If you don’t have a copper or silver container, then keep water in any metal container.
You will get copper containers very easily in the market or online stores. Copper container is the best option.
Session I:
You should get up early in the morning at least 6.30am or worst case scenario 7am every day.
Take 1 litre of water kept overnight in a copper vessel and warm it up to drinking temperature and drink with an empty stomach first thing in the morning.
Take a coffee or tea after 30-45 minutes, if you are having coffee or tea habits.
Otherwise, drink green tea / any herbal tea available in the market. Verify the herbal tea product for the genuinity and quality.
Best hot drink in the morning in place of coffee or tea is lemon water with honey.
Session II:
It is better to sit every day morning for 30 minutes simply closing your eyes with your spine straight.
Just don’t think anything, simply be blank and be with yourself consciously. The timing can be increased as you practice more.
Walk for 21 minutes every day. If possible, morning sunlight walk is a plus.
Healthy Breakfast: That means you are breaking your fasting from almost 10-12 hrs gap
Buy any seasonal freshly available fruits and vegetables from the market.
Before having breakfast, you must eat at least 350gm – 400gm fruits. And then have any kind of breakfast based upon your eating habits.
Healthy Lunch:
Before having lunch, you must eat raw vegetables including leafy vegetables or salads at least 350gm – 400gm. And then have any kind of lunch based upon your eating habits.
Healthy Dinner:
Eat your dinner before 8pm everyday.
I know, it may not be possible for every individual to stick to this timing. But one recommendation – eat very ligith food and not too much heavy cooked food with the spices.
That means keep your stomach half full. Some people complains, I don’t get good sleep if I don’t eat well at night.
