I was reading an article on success, in which someone mentioned about the book called ‘The seven spiritual laws of success’ by Deepak Chopra. Till that time, I was reading a lot on how to become successful in life, how to earn money, how one should be focused towards success.
I also felt the title spiritual laws of success look a little bit unusual. But, this book explores the fundamental laws of success in a spiritual sense. Which is very interesting and very true.
One must read this book. Even though I read it, I still spend time to ponder over deep thoughts presented by an author in the book and try to understand it.
Based upon my little understanding of what I pursued, I prepared a gist of it for you.
-*- You are what your deep, driving desire is. -*- As your desire is, so is your will. -*- As your will is, so is your deed. -*- As your deed is, so is your destiny. -*-
– Brihadaranyaka Upanishad IV.4.5
The law of pure potentiality
The pure potentiality means, what we are, in our essential state, pure consciousness. Pure consciousness is pure potentiality;
Pure consciousness is our spiritual essence – Being infinite and unbounded. Our essential nature of pure potentiality and its attributes are, pure knowledge, infinite silence, perfect balance, invincibility (the quality of being too powerful), simplicity, and bliss.
You might have experienced the above nature of your consciousness while doing prayer at your home or in temples or in any other spiritual places, but you might not have given enough attention to it. This is our essential nature as human beings.
When you discover your essential nature and know who you really are, in that knowing itself is the ability to fulfill any dream you have.
You yourself are the eternal possibility, the immeasurable potential of all that was, is, and will be.
The existence of the self or self-referral
The existence of the self, or “self-referral,” means that our internal referral point is our own spirit, and not the objects of our experience outside the self.
The objects outside the self are our situations of life, circumstances, people, and things. In object referral we are constantly seeking approval of others. Our behaviour is always in anticipation of a response from the objects outside the self, hence fear-based.
In reference to the objects outside, we also feel an intense need to control things. The need for approval, the need to control things, and the need for external power are the needs that are based on fear.
What is the Object-referral
In object-referral, our internal reference point is our ego. The ego is not who we really are. The ego is our self-image, it is our social mask, it is the role we are playing. Our social mask thrives on approval. It wants to control, and it is sustained by power, because it lives in fear.
This kind of power with reference to the objects outside and internal referral point is not the power of pure potentiality, or the power of the self or real power.
Your true self is your spirit, your soul, is completely free of self-image, social-mask, it is immune to criticism, it is unfearful of any challenge, and it feels beneath no one. And yet, it is also humble and feels superior to no one.
Because, it (your true self) recognises that every-one else is the same Self, the same spirit in different disguises. Self-Power is therefore true POWER.
For example, if you have a certain title – if you are head of the organization or chairman of a corporation or if you have a lot of money, the power you enjoy goes with the title, with the job, with the money. Ego-based power or control will only last as long as those things last.
Access to our true essence will also give us insight into the mirror of a relationship, because all relationships are a reflection of my relationship with self.
Applying the Law of Pure Potentiality to our lives
If you want to enjoy the benefits of the field of pure potentiality, then you have to have access to it.
One of the ways to access the field of pure potentiality is – through daily practice of silence, meditation, non-judgement.
Spending time in nature will also give you access to the qualities inherent in the field of infinite creativity, freedom, and bliss.
One must take full advantage of the Law of Pure Potentiality by following below 3 steps in daily life.
1. Silence: Taking a time each day to be silent, to just Be. Sit alone in silent meditation at least twice a day thirty minutes in the morning and in the evening. It also means periodically withdrawing from such activities as watching television, mobile screen time, or reading a book.
Note: did you ever try above? Try it once at least for 12hrs, you go crazy. Because you never give yourself the opportunity to experience the silence.
2. Being with nature: Sit silently and watch a sunset, or listen to the sound of the ocean or a stream, or simply smell the scent of a flower.
3. Practice non-judgment (evaluation of things as right or wrong, good or bad): I will begin my day with the statement, “Today, or next two hours, I shall judge nothing that occurs,” and throughout the day I will remind myself not to judge.
Hope you enjoyed the article. In the next article we will ponder over “The Law of Giving”.
