There is a gap in what you learn in your college degree or university and and what industry expects from a professional.
What industry is really expecting from potential employees – To be self initiative, proactive, team player, good leadership qualities, ability to solve problems, creative and ready to adapt new technologies, etc.
As per extract from “International Research Journal of Engineering and Technology (IRJET) Volume: 04 Issue: 08 | Aug-2017”;
The Indian formal education system does not effectively impart innovation skill development. There is no formal, mandatory or optional course designed as a part of the curriculum to enable the graduates are equipped with effective innovation skills.
Only one tenth of students of tier 2, 3 and 4 engineering colleges are readily employable, says the national survey of a private educational agency.
Even after interventional training, one third of them are not employable, it says.
To find a suitable job, you must identify what are your skill sets and how you can be best fit to industry demands and needs.
You must understand, you are made up of certain other skills apart from core engineering skills learnt in your curriculum.
Skill levels can be different from one student to the other

One might have executing skill to create a solution or Proof of concept, from the selected ideas.
And one might have association skill deal with a market where innovation will be implemented.
To be a part of the industry, you must identify above skills within you along with your core engineering skills. And practice those skills with the help of experts or consult careers consultants or experienced people from relevant industries and identify your sweet spot to get the right JOB!!
